Working with fabric has allowed me to combine traditional etching and drypoint printing with needlework and natural dye, scale up my work, and expand presentation possibilities through custom-designed clay accessories. The lightness, softness, and everyday quality of fabric make it an ideal surface for Softening of Mind—a body of work inspired by hours spent watching my grandmother knit and unknit—and for exploring the threads that connect me to mothers and root me in the motherland.
